Babies born weeks early, fighting for life. Adults who need a heart operation, an organ transplant, treatment for cancer, or long-term care for serious burns. These are a few reasons why people need blood. Every unit of your blood can be separated into several components, potentially saving the lives of three or more patients.
You can trust that the American Red Cross will provide blood whenever it is needed. The need for blood is growing. Every two minutes someone needs blood. Your involvement with the American Red Cross will help meet the needs of patients in Washington County hospitals. The Red Cross provides blood to everyone who needs it...automatically, equally, fully, whether or not they themselves are able to donate.

You can help in three ways:
- Blood Drive Sponsor: Position your business as a community leader by letting the Red Cross help your company or organization sponsor and coordinate one or more blood drives per year.
- Blood Drive Recruitment: Take a leadership position by encouraging your customers, clients and vendors to sponsor Red Cross blood drives.
- Blood Donor: Lead your community in meeting patient needs by donating blood. Commit to providing a donation every 56 days.

WHO CAN GIVE BLOOD?
Donors must:
- Be in generally good health and feeling well on the day of donation;
- Be at least 17 years of age (16 years of age with parental consent);
- Weigh at least 110 pounds;
- Have NOT received a tattoo within the past year;
- Have NOT donated whole blood within the past 56 days.
