BABYSITTING BOOTCAMP A SUCCESS!

~Awesome!!

~This was a very good experience.

~Everything in the training was great because now I know how to babysit and what to do if children get hurt

~I loved it and had a very good time.

~The RealityWorks babies we worked with for 3 days helped me because now I know how to work with infants.

~Ms. Rachael is one of the best teacher’s I’ve had teach me.

~ CPR was the most helpful because I am always afraid of not knowing CPR

~ The most helpful thing was having the real children come.

These are some of the comments in the evaluation sheets from our participants in the first Babysitting Bootcamp.

The Washington County Chapter of the American Red Cross held their first "Babysitting Bootcamp" this past month and everyone was very pleased with the results. "It was fun to teach the girls and see them take care of their babies as if they were real" said Rachael Rohrer, Health and Safety Coordinator, who taught all the classes with the help of Janice Cirincione, Marketing specialist.

"I am so glad that I got to teach these classes. I can see the difference from day one through day four. The progress they make with their babies is tremendous! They really are excited about the class and they want to learn as much as they can" said Rachael. Rachael is the mother of a two year old and she brought Paige to participate in the training. she shared with us the experience, "Having real children come in really helped them out. They got to interact with them and learn first hand how to change diapers, feed and hold them".

Our participants also had the advantage of using REALITYWORKS babies, they can be programed to perform activities baby-like and that gave our participants a more realistic feel. These babies were purchased thanks to a grant provided by the WASHINGTON COUNTY COMMUNITY PARTNERSHIP FOR CHILDREN & FAMILIES. We want to express our gratitude to them for helping us purchase the babies to offer a more realistic experience to our campers and babysitting training participants.
